I believe some of you out there don't think too much about making new resolutions, either because you don't believe in doing such a thing or you have never been able to keep up with them in the past. Others continue to make new resolutions every year (Like me :) ), either because you felt you have kept up with them well enough in the past to warrant making a new one, or you legitimately want to make a lasting change in your lives.. whatever.

I came across these top 10 list of New Year Resolutions:-
  1. Spend more time with family
  2. Fit in Fitness
  3. Tame the Bulge
  4. Quit Smoking
  5. Enjoy Life More
  6. Quit Drinking
  7. Get Out of Debt
  8. Learn Something New
  9. Help others
  10. Get Organized

For me, I don't have any issues in relate to points 3, 4, 6, and 7. So all these are fall out from my list. Perhaps I could be healthier with more regular exercises, and constantly learn up something new and of course contribute back to society, is the almost important task. How about yours?

Man Fahion: All about Designer Ties

All men have the potential to look classy when wearing a designer tie. On the other hand, getting the wrong designer tie can also make you look immature, or downgrade your overall style. More so if you're a business professional, your designer tie makes a statement about you before the first handshake is even made.

So before I go further, here are 4 fundamentals you need to consider before buying a designer tie.

Tie Texture

It's very important to choose a designer tie made of high quality material, natural fibres are always best, whether silk, cashmere or wool. However, silk ties don't go with every kind of suit, so be sure that the texture of the designer tie complements the texture of the suit. Like generally goes with like although there are exceptions, for example a woolen flannel suit looks very chic with satin ties, a complete contrast and opposite.

Tie Length

Make sure your designer tie is the right length. Most shop offer ties at 55/56 inches. Men's ties are at the correct length if they just about reach the belt buckle, which is generally 58 inches, although taller men may require even longer ties.

Tie Colors

When choosing designer tie color, you must always take into consideration color of your entire attire. The last thing you should do is to wear the same color tie with your shirt, which look formidable in darker tones.

Red Tie/White Shirt
This is the ultimate power dresser. It shows you mean business and want to be listened to. With a dark suit it is at its most potent.

Red Tie/Blue Shirt
You mean business, having things to say but are prepared to listen to those around you. You still want to be thought of as one of the boys.

Refer to my earlier post on tie color and personality for more explanation.

Tie Pattern

It should never be larger than the size of your eye, or it will take the focus from your face. A large patterned designer tie will become the focal point of your outfit and distract from your face. Also, designer tie should take care not to clash with the pattern on the shirt or jacket and the rest of the clothing.

For example, if you go with a striped tie, don't wear a similarly striped shirt or you could be mistaken for an optical illusion.

Lastly, To keep the shape in your tie, it should be rolled u at teh end of the day. Do not hang it over a coat hanger or worst still, leave it knotted and pull over your head.

For his latest collection, he imagined the late artist/filmmaker Derek Jarman in his garden at Dungeness, a hardscrabble stretch of English seaside perched next to a nuclear reactor.

Men Fashion Maestro on Holiday Attire

Published by Details of Men.Style. Our famous Italian fashion designer, Giorgio Armani shared his "10 Rules of Style" for holiday attire. The things he stresses the most for any style are confident, timelessness, and keeping thing simple. Find out more about his 10 rules of style below.

1. When choosing a men suit, a man should look for something that he can wear, and not something that will wear him. In other words, elegance, sophistication, and timeless style are always better than of-the-moment trends, which will date—and date the wearer. 2. As for style, a two-button suit is more timeless than a three- or a one-button. A single-breasted is more versatile than double—allowing you to dress your suit up or down more freely and use the jacket as a separate more easily. 3. The most important thing is to feel comfortable in your clothes. If you feel comfortable, you will feel self-confident.

4. The worst sartorial faux pas you can make is looking like you’re trying too hard. To develop your own individual style, really consider what suits you.

5. If you remain curious about the world, you will stay young at heart. Beyond that, I recommend an hour’s exercise every day and a healthy diet with a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits.

6. The holidays mean a handsome velvet tuxedo jacket. If you’re entertaining at home and feel like it, you can try one in a midnight blue or deep plum and you should wear velvet slippers. If you go out, wear shoes—preferably wing tips. 7. When buying a men suit, go for a color that will not date too soon, like a mid-tone gray or a black. 8. When an actor, like George Clooney, is on the red carpet, or when a man goes to a formal event, he shouldn’t dress excessively—he risks becoming too much of a spectacle.

9. At black-tie events you can get away with a jacket that has a bit more of an extreme line, something that’s really fitted. And you can never go wrong wearing a clean white shirt.

10. Confidence and a sense of humor make a man sey. And having an Armani wardrobe doesn’t hurt either. For those who still remember, find out Armani's 21 rules to achieve style, which he shared with us a year ago.

Man Travel: Travel With Style

International business travel is an activity that is becoming more and more complex on a daily basis. You must be well prepared before you start your journey and be prepared for all eventualities.

Most important, do not carry a lot of clothing. You need only basic wardrobe and some leisure items (sports maybe) and make sure that it’s consistent with the local weather conditions as well as custom. But no matter how long the flight, you can always avoid looking like you stowed away in the cargo hold. Here, the clothes that will let you stretch your legs without short changing your style when you're 30,000 feet in the air.
  1. Men Washed Cotton Shirt

  2. The last thing you need while sleeping in-flights is a stiff collar scratching your neck. A rumpled cotton button-down helps you maintain some decorum even when you're slumping in your seat.
    Basketweave Fine Cotton Dress Shirt

  3. Men Cardigan

  4. A cashmere cardigan keeps you just as insulated from the airplane's air-cond as a complimentary Scotch whiskey or two, but without the dehydration too. Unlike a pullover, the beauty of Cardigan is that it's easy to put on or take off.
Lambswool Blend Shawl Collar Cable Cardigan Sweater

  5. Soft Structured Men Jacket

  6. A deconstructed gray jacket makes an ideal outer layer for traveling. Stow it once you're in the air, then slip it on as soon as you exit the lan for a minimum hassle, put together look.

  1. Dark Denim

  2. When there won't be time for a post-flight change of clothes, choose a pair of dark jeans that will weather wrinkles, allowing you to move seamlessly from seat to your next destination.

Lastly, don't over-stuff your suitcase. Pack enough clothing for each day of your trip, plus an extra shirt or two for variety. Strike a balance and travel with style.

Men Skin Care Quick Fix: Face Mask

Most of us don't have time and patient for a 45 minutes face mask, no matter how good it does for you, at least I don't want to spend the time on this. Fortunately, with advance of technology, the newest versions usually highly concentrated cleansers or creams, work in a mere five or ten minutes.

Find out more on some of the products based on your skin type.

Men Cleaning - Jack Black Deep Detox Clay Face Mask
Suitable for every man whose face is shiny by mid-morning. It works well for most of the skin type because of oil sucking ingredients like clay and witch hazel remove grease and dirt buildup.

To apply, simply put it everywhere but under your eyes, leave it on for mere five minutes, and rinse with warm water.

Men Hydrating - Elemis Post Shave Recovery Face Mask
This is most suitable for those who reach for lotion halfway through the day, or simply dry skin.
Using ingredients such as almond, lavender and vitamin E add moisture immediately and soothe red, sore skin.

To apply, simply put in on before you get in the shower and wash it off with warm water before you get out.

Brightening - Nickel Mug Shot
This product is ideal for guys with dull complexions. Why it's work? With Chemicals like glycolic acid help to slough away dead skin cells and stimulate the production of fresh ones.

To apply, spread on a thick layer on your face, and remove with a toner. Not WATER after five minutes.

One final tip: If you think of doing weekly mask on a nightly basis, it won't look seven times better. Instead, your face will just be more irritated.

What's Your Girl Friend Gift Wishes For Christmas?

Hey! Are you is the one who is mad rush to get in all the gifts for loved ones, family and friends? To be frank, I do experienced this in my past few years. But not anymore this year. I have planned all the Christmas gifts for my loved one and family members.

Ladies will often complain that their husbands or boyfriends are difficult to Christmas shop for. By and large, men are not good in shopping and have a tough time buying Christmas gifts for the lady in their life.

Perhaps I will take this opportunity to share with you some of my Christmas gifts ideas that is not only very nice but also practical for my loved one.

1. Electronic gadgets as Christmas Gifts. Well, you can think about it for minutes. For all occasions the electronic gifts will make difference feeling for your gift loved one. One main reason is that most men are easy attracted and familiar to all these high-tech electronic gadgets. Some of the gadgets such as budget iPod to luxury iPhone. Digital camera is also not a bad idea after all.

Apple Store

2. Another Christmas gifts idea that come into my mind is watches. Buy your loved one with a watch and slip a note inside with the gift is always romantic.

3. Whether she is daring classic or a city chic, I always find lady handbags as Christmas gifts is one of the idea choice. Do you agree? Range from designer's name such as Louis Vuitton Handbags, Fendi lady bags, Tod Winter Leather bags to Street Fashion style such as Gap, Old Navy and many more to choose from.

You can find out more designer handbags from eliadore.com

4. How about earrings as a staple of fashion choices for this Christmas Gifts? Round Hoop earrings, Boxed Stud design, Karat Heart Dangle, Teardrop fashion, Mesh Hoop and many more. The best is go to any of shops near you to find out more.

5. Lastly, if you find all the above are one of the Christmas Gifts that you bought in past few years. How about give her a gift that will completely rejuvenate her mind and body? Simply send her a SPA gift certificate. I am sure she'll be in a great mood to thank you after she return from the SPA.

In my opinion, I always find that it’s not what you give, it’s the spirit of giving that counts.

Red Ribbon Day

In the last two decades since December 1 was declared as World Aid Day. A great number of campaigns have helped pushed the message forward.

As part of effort to bring across this important message to everyone, here are some of the more successful and unique champions of the life saving cause.

MTV Staying Alive
MTV's Staying Alive (SA) campaign began in 1998 as a documentary about the lives of six young people affected by HIV. Four years later, it expanded into what is today an Emmy-Winning multimedia campaign that involves TV, the internet, youth forums to get the message across.

The aim is very simple, to challenge the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV while empowering young people to protect themselves from infection.

Find out more at Staying-alive.org

Humor Against AIDS
Clerly, laughter is the best medicine for this campaign launched in Denmark on a most appropriate date, 1 April 2004. Instead of anger, sadness or indignation, it chooses to use humour to mobilize politicians, the business community and the public at large into helping to fight AIDS in developing countries.

I still like what they put across: "In the face of the extraordinary challenges caused by HIV/AIDS, we must respond with extraordinary measures"

Product (RED)
I am sure everyone is familiar with this. Spearheaded by U2's led singer, Bono, together with Bobby shriver from DATA, this unique project raises money for the Global Fund to fight AIDS. Tuberculosis and Malaria by getting partner companies to design and sell special merchandise under the Product(RED)brand.

(RED) partner companies include some of the heavy weight companies such as American Express, Apple, Motorola, GAP, Converse, Emporia Armani, Hallmark, Microsoft and Dell. Find out more at JoinRed.com

MAC Cosmetics
In an industry that prides itself on looking good, cosmetic brand MAC is certainly a shinning star for its efforts in supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS worldwide. MAC AIDS fund has raised over $128 million over the years from special edition VIVA GLAM lipstick. You can find out more at macaidsfund.org.

I Stand with MAGIC
Basketball superstar Earvin "Magic" Johnson shocked the world when he announced his retirement after he was diagnosed as being HIV positive. Since then, he established the Magic Johnson Foundation to help combat HIV as well as other charitable causes. Find out more at istandwithmagic.com

I hope with my little effort here, will help to create some awareness. Let help the world....

What are Men Fashion Shopping Tips for Recession?

When you turn on your TV, read your newspaper, eating in the restaurants, or walking along the streets, everyone is talking about the recession, not in the country but now has spread over to the world.

I did a simple survey in the last one month, and within our expectation, people are more savvy (63%)when come to buying decision now, and another 28% have commented that depend on what item to buy. So I am sure everyone here don't like to sacrifice your men fashion style just because of recession. But at the same time, with same disposable income, you might also want to start your savings just for raining days if any. This will sounds like mission impossible to many of us.

Today I am sharing with you my 5 simple tips on how can we achieve style with less, ie. clothing tips for recession.

  1. Develop Your Mini Shopping List. List down what you want to buy before shopping, this will help you focus on what to buy. Don't just because it looks great in a magazine mean it will look great on you. Be honest with yourself about your body. It will save you time and money.
  2. Create Your Shopping Account. Keep a portion of your monthly income to this special account, say 10% to 20%, depend on your comfort level. Only use the money in this special account for any purchase. The beauty is you can spend it all without affecting your normal saving.
  3. Use 75/25 Rule. In economy term, there is 80/20 rule, but in fashion world, make sure 75% of your closet should be classic pieces that hardly out of style, and remaining 25% should be trendy, and fun items.
  4. Enjoy Discount Vouchers. Often, you can find a great bargain during sales session or redeem discount vouchers offer by the shops.

  5. Leave Your Debit and Credit Card Alone. Paying with all these "plastic cards" are really scary because you will not know how much you have spent by end of the day. So, pay with your cash, at least it gives you an instant visual indication how much you've spent.
Lastly, similar on I have written in my earlier post, Return on Investment from Fashion, you should calculate the Cost Per Wear for any men clothing that you intend to buy. ie. the price of individual item divided by the number of times you think you will wear it. In short, the lower the cost per wear, then better it will be.

So start implement these simple tips and enjoy your shopping without any worries now.

Are You Men Fashion Victim?

I still remember what Karin Eldor, fellow fashion correspondent at AskMen.com defined fashion victim "someone who takes all the trends of a given time and ends up looking like a store mannequie; or to put it in simple word, absurd".

So here are some quick tips on how to avoid being the victim.

You to Define Yourself
Wear what you think looks nice on you, not what others dictate is trendy. You should always feel comfortable with what you're wearing, so stick to items that suit your personality and regular style, all while keeping the occasion and setting in mind.

More Do Not Mean Good
Don't overdo it. Even if your body type does lend itself to wearing trendy garments from head to toe, it's not a look you want to adopt. Buy several fashionable items every season, and mix and match them with the basics in your wardrobe. It's a smart and cost effective way to look your best every day.

Don't Buy Because of Brand
Try to avoid referring to your clothes by their designer label. By dissociating the item from its manufacturer, you will condition yourself to look at the item itself rather than by swayed by a brand name.

So remember next time, before you decide to purchase a new item, ask yourself if you are buying it because it's "in style" or because it genuinely suits you.

Watch Out for Zoolander Effect
Don't suck in your cheeks to look chiseled and never wear your sunglasses on raining day or no sun, or going for clubbing at night.

Man Fashion: Designer Bags for Fall/Winter 2008

Winter season means restrained elegance. Long gone will be those bright, flamboyant colours and wild prints. In place will be smart checks, rich textures of leather, tweed and wool. I think our taste somehow changed as new season kicks in. Do you agree? McQueen Check Wool Travel Holdall So here is one lovely bag to lust over for this coming season. A beautiful check wool and leather holdall that embodies what winter weather is all about. Elegant, somber, nice mix of heavy check wool fabric and rich tan leather. Accented with decadent gold buckles against greys, browns and in a classic shape, all contributing to make this bag a wonderful winter travel companion. Comes with a shoulder strap for ease of carrying as well. This bag will go well with those thick winter coats and wool pants that keeps you snugly warm. Paul Smith Brown Soft Briefcase With Green Leather Trim and Detachable Shoulder Strap I have always been fascinated with laptop bags. I am constantly on the lookout for a stylish, chic soft briefcase type bag that doubles as a laptop carrier and yet can function as a day bag for holiday sightseeing. Something that works through night and day and be complimentary to a lot of looks is important in my criteria. Now Paul Smith Brown Soft Briefcase With Green Leather Trim just fit in the bill. The green color leather trim adds a dash of color but the deep shade of the green somehow does not make the bag too casual. It is elegant, classic and yet modern and playful. The external flap pocket with inverted studded strap opening look stylish, and is easily for retrieval of commonly used items and perfect for passports and flight tickets.
